WW Grainger sales rise 8 pct in November

CHICAGO (AP) — W.W. Grainger Inc., which sells power tools and other industrial equipment, said Wednesday its sales rose 8 percent in November, helped by higher prices and an increase in demand for hurricane-related products.

The Chicago company said that about 3 percentage points of the growth came from pricing improvements, while 2 percentage points came from sales of hurricane-related products, 2 percentage points stemmed from higher volumes and 1 percentage point came from acquisitions.

U.S. sales rose 6 percent, while Canadian sales increase 8 percent, or 12 percent excluding the effects of exchange rates.

Sales at the company's other businesses, which include Asia, Europe and Latin America, jumped 17 percent.

Grainger shares fell 32 cents to $193.49 in morning trading.
