Kroger rose $.22 or .8 percent, to $26.87.

Safeway fell $.14 or .8 percent, to $17.84.

Supervalu rose $.05 or 1.9 percent, to $2.69.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $1.85 or 2.0 percent, to $92.51.
