Patterson fell $.71 or 2.1 percent, to $33.30.

PerkinElmer fell $.31 or 1.0 percent, to $31.10.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. fell $.43 or .7 percent, to $63.08.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose $.29 or .4 percent, to $69.67.

Waters fell $.04 or percent, to $84.10.
