W.Va.-set 'Buck Wild' series debuts Jan. 3 on MTV

November 29, 2012

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — MTV says it will begin airing the West Virginia-based reality show "Buck Wild" on Jan. 3.

Spokeswoman Candice Ashton says details about the series will be released Thursday afternoon. Last fall, the network said it had ordered 12 episodes of the show featuring a group of young people recently out of high school and their "colorful antics."

The West Virginia Film Office denied tax credits to the producer, New Remote Productions, over concerns the show would negatively portray the state's young male residents.

The executive producer of "Buck Wild," J.P. Williams of Parallel Entertainment, is a native West Virginian best known for creating Blue Collar Comedy. He declined interviews at the time.

Filming was to be done in Sissonville and Charleston.
