Dakotas cities among lowest unemployment rates

November 29, 2012

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Four cities in the Dakotas are among the 10 in the nation with the lowest unemployment rates last month.

The Labor Department says the North Dakota capital of Bismarck had the lowest rate among the 372 largest U.S. cities, at 2.2 percent. Bismarck is followed by Fargo at 2.8 percent and Grand Forks at 3.1 percent.

Sioux Falls, South Dakota's largest city, is eighth on the list, with a rate of 3.7 percent.

The Labor Department says unemployment rates declined last month in more than half of the 372 largest cities — further evidence of steady improvement in the job market.
