NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top supermarkets companies were up at the close of trading:

Kroger rose $.33 or 1.3 percent, to $24.98.

Safeway rose $.49 or 3.0 percent, to $16.96.

Supervalu rose $.04 or 1.5 percent, to $2.71.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $2.99 or 3.2 percent, to $95.06.
