Macy's Inc. rose $.39 or 1.0 percent, to $41.40.

Nordstrom rose $.56 or 1.0 percent, to $56.16.

J.C. Penney Co. rose $.35 or 2.0 percent, to $17.60.

Saks rose $.14 or 1.4 percent, to $10.34.

Sears Holdings Corp. rose $.32 or .7 percent, to $47.81.

TJX Companies rose $.14 or .3 percent, to $43.60.
