Kroger fell $.11 or .4 percent, to $24.52.

Safeway fell $.59 or 3.5 percent, to $16.17.

Supervalu fell $.07 or 2.7 percent, to $2.50.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $1.00 or 1.1 percent, to $92.41.
