Comcast Corp. rose $.55 or 1.5 percent, to $36.56.

Walt Disney Co. rose $.53 or 1.1 percent, to $48.44.

Gannett rose $.17 or 1.0 percent, to $17.54.

New York Times Co. rose $.01 or .1 percent, to $8.08.

News Corp. rose $.01 or percent, to $24.46.

Time Warner Inc. rose $.35 or .8 percent, to $45.63.

Viacom Inc. fell $.39 or .8 percent, to $50.48.
