General Electric Co. rose $.43 or 2.1 percent, to $20.58.

Snap-On rose $1.65 or 2.2 percent, to $76.41.

Stanley Works rose $1.24 or 1.8 percent, to $68.65.

Whirlpool Corp. rose $1.73 or 1.8 percent, to $97.89.
