Hershey Entertainment taps Simpson as new CEO

HERSHEY, Pa. (AP) — Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Co. says its president William F. Simpson Jr. will become chief executive when Ted Kleisner retires at the end of the year.

In a statement released Wednesday, the company said its board approved the appointment, part of a succession plan first outlined last year. Simpson will become CEO on Jan. 1 while Kleisner will remain the company's board of directors.

Simpson started at the company in 1996 as general manager of the Hershey Lodge and oversaw its expansion in 1998.

The company, based in Hershey, operates the Hersheypark Entertainment Complex, ZooAmerica North American Wildlife Park, the Hershey Bears AHL Hockey Club and the Hershey Lodge, among other properties.
