NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were down at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. fell $.44 or 1.3 percent, to $33.20.

Sprint Nextel fell $.01 or .2 percent, to $5.61.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell $.58 or 1.3 percent, to $42.61.
