PerkinElmer fell $.51 or 1.6 percent, to $30.67.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. fell $1.09 or 1.8 percent, to $59.76.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. fell $1.08 or 1.6 percent, to $68.59.

Waters fell $.79 or .9 percent, to $83.21.
