Pols to NY drivers: Steer clear of gas pump greed
NEW YORK (AP) — Politicians are urging New York drivers to steer clear of fear and greed at the pump.
Sen. Charles Schumer issued a plea on Tuesday: "Please don't hoard."
He says if you really need gas, get it. But don't buy it "just in case."
Gov. Andrew Cuomo also cautioned against what he called "panic buying."
He acknowledged that people now "get nervous" about a dropping gas gauge, and about gas station lines.
But both politicians said that can only make the overall situation worse.
