Fertilizer company to open site in Louisiana
ST. GABRIEL, La. (AP) — A fertilizer company plans to open a Louisiana facility to produce and distribute liquid fertilizers to global agricultural customers.
Nachurs Alpine Solutions said Monday it will renovate a 174,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Iberville Parish that will create 16 new jobs with an average salary of $45,700, plus benefits.
Based in Marion, Ohio, Nachurs recently bought a 69-acre parcel of the Ciba-Geigy site in St. Gabriel and will invest nearly $14 million to renovate existing buildings. Louisiana Economic Development officials estimate the project will result in an additional 44 indirect jobs.
Construction will begin before the end of 2012 and will be completed by mid-2014.
Gov. Bobby Jindal says the project represents how the state "continues to make use of our existing assets to attract new career opportunities for Louisiana families."
