Aflac Inc. rose $.87 or 1.7 percent, to $50.65.

American International Group rose $.40 or 1.1 percent, to $35.33.

MBIA rose $.04 or .4 percent, to $9.94.

MGIC Investments Corp. rose $.19 or 10.8 percent, to $1.91.

MetLife fell $.45 or 1.3 percent, to $35.04.

XL Group PLC rose $.03 or .1 percent, to $24.77.
