Buckle posts surprise rise in Oct. revenue metric
KEARNEY, Neb. (AP) — Buckle's revenue at stores open at least a year gained 3.8 percent in October, surprising Wall Street.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the figure to decline 1.3 percent.
Revenue at stores open at least a year is a key gauge of a retailer's health because it excludes results for stores recently opened or closed.
For the four weeks ended Oct. 27, total revenue rose 5.7 percent to $84.2 million.
Third-quarter revenue at stores open at least a year climbed 2. 4 percent, with total revenue up 3.9 percent to $284.1 million.
Year-to-date revenue at stores open at least a year rose 3.2 percent. Total revenue increased 5.2 percent to $763.4 million.
Buckle Inc. said Thursday that it will report its third-quarter financial results on Nov. 15.
The Kearney, Neb. company currently has 441 stores in 43 states.
