Va. AG asked to probe voting irregularities

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Virginia election officials are asking the attorney general's office to investigate the son of Democratic Rep. Jim Moran, caught on tape discussing a plan to cast fraudulent ballots, and the person who made the recording.

The request came Friday at a special meeting of the State Board of Elections. The board said in a news release it has asked the attorney general to investigate voting irregularities and fraudulent activity involving Patrick Moran. He is already the focus of a criminal investigation in Arlington.

Moran resigned Wednesday as field director of his father's campaign after Project Veritas released the video. The organization is led by conservative activist James O'Keefe.
