NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top coal companies were up at the close of trading:

Arch Coal rose $.50 or 6.3 percent, to $8.41.

Consol Energy Inc. rose $1.39 or 3.9 percent, to $36.60.

Peabody Energy rose $3.06 or 11.8 percent, to $28.95.
