SC governor, PRT chief to discuss tourism
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and the head of the state's Department of Parks, Recreation and tourism are talking tourism in Charleston.
Haley is joining Duane Parrish on Wednesday at the Charles Towne Landing, the birthplace of South Carolina, to discuss the industry which is one of the largest in the state.
Tourism means about $15 billion a year to the South Carolina economy.
Tourism leaders have said that while this past summer season was strong, tourism in the state still has not quite returned to the levels before the Great Recession.
