Kroger rose $.53 or 2.2 percent, to $24.96.

Safeway rose $.32 or 2.0 percent, to $16.24.

Supervalu rose $.01 or .5 percent, to $1.91.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $1.12 or 1.1 percent, to $99.96.
