New Hampshire jobless rate is at 5.1 percent


CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire's unemployment rate is 5.1 percent for September, slightly less than it was a year ago.

The rate was down from the August figure of 5.7 percent.

The New Hampshire Employment Security office reports that the state's labor force increased by 770 people — bringing it to 738,780 — from August to September.

The unemployment rate in New Hampshire in September 2011 stood at 5.2 percent.

The national unemployment rate dropped slightly from August to September to 7.6 percent.

The national unemployment rate is down 1.2 percent from where it stood a year ago September.
