Patterson rose $.10 or .3 percent, to $34.69.

PerkinElmer rose $.48 or 1.6 percent, to $30.31.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. rose $.84 or 1.4 percent, to $60.27.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose $.80 or 1.4 percent, to $59.04.

Waters rose $1.09 or 1.4 percent, to $81.69.
