Nevada agency budget requests to be released

October 15, 2012

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Budget requests prepared by Nevada state agencies are due for release Monday.

The documents are part of the fiscal puzzle Gov. Brian Sandoval will use to build his own budget proposal for the next two-year budget cycle that begins July 1. Sandoval will present his spending plan in January.

A big unknown is whether the governor will include expanding Medicaid eligibility as called for under the federal health care reform law in his own budget.

Sandoval last week said he is reserving his decision on Medicaid until after the elections and state revenue projections are made later this year.

But he asked the Department of Health and Human Services to submit two budget proposals, one reflecting an expanded Medicaid program, the other omitting it.
