Kroger rose $.07 or .3 percent, to $23.38.

Safeway rose $.12 or .7 percent, to $15.69.

Supervalu fell $.03 or 1.3 percent, to $1.84.

Whole Foods Market Inc. rose $.90 or .9 percent, to $97.30.
