Comcast Corp. rose $.65 or 1.8 percent, to $36.43.

Walt Disney Co. rose $.20 or .4 percent, to $50.79.

Gannett fell $.05 or .3 percent, to $17.85.

New York Times Co. rose $.50 or 4.8 percent, to $10.88.

News Corp. rose $.22 or .9 percent, to $24.80.

Time Warner Inc. fell $.09 or .2 percent, to $44.97.

Viacom Inc. fell $.19 or .3 percent, to $54.73.
