NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were down at the close of trading:

General Electric Co. fell $.30 or 1.3 percent, to $22.62.

Snap-On fell $1.27 or 1.7 percent, to $71.53.

Stanley Works fell $1.99 or 2.7 percent, to $72.24.

Whirlpool Corp. fell $2.34 or 2.7 percent, to $84.21.
