NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top supermarkets companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Kroger rose $.05 or .2 percent, to $23.82.

Safeway rose $.19 or 1.2 percent, to $16.35.

Supervalu fell $.02 or .9 percent, to $2.20.

Whole Foods Market Inc. fell $.74 or .7 percent, to $100.45.
