American Express Co. rose $.26 or .4 percent, to $58.82.

Capital One Financial Corp. rose $.05 or .1 percent, to $59.05.

Discover Financial Services fell $.10 or .2 percent, to $40.29.

Mastercard fell $3.34 or .7 percent, to $471.93.

Visa Inc. fell $1.55 or 1.1 percent, to $138.71.
