October 05, 2012

THE INVESTIGATION: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating complaints that sunroofs on the Hyundai Veloster can shatter and shower people in the car with glass.

THE MODEL: The probe covers about 18,000 of the funky hatchbacks from the 2012 model year.

THE PROBLEM: Drivers have complained that the panoramic sunroofs can break inexplicably. NHTSA has received 11 complaints about the problem, seven while the car was moving. Only minor scratches from the glass were reported. The agency will determine if the problem is bad enough to recall the cars.
