NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. fell $.04 or .1 percent, to $37.86.

Sprint Nextel rose $.11 or 2.2 percent, to $5.20.

Verizon Communications Inc. rose $.31 or .7 percent, to $47.05.
