NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. rose $.17 or .4 percent, to $38.34.

Sprint Nextel fell $.11 or 2.1 percent, to $5.09.

Verizon Communications Inc. rose $.98 or 2.1 percent, to $47.26.
