NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top silver companies were up at the close of trading:

Hecla Mining Co. rose $.25 or 3.9 percent, to $6.72.

Pan American Silver Corp. rose $.58 or 2.7 percent, to $22.19.

Silver Standard Resources Inc. rose $.74 or 4.8 percent, to $16.03.

Silver Wheaton rose $1.98 or 5.1 percent, to $40.75.
