Aflac Inc. rose $.36 or .8 percent, to $47.89.

American International Group rose $.78 or 2.3 percent, to $34.99.

MBIA rose $.19 or 1.8 percent, to $10.68.

MGIC Investments Corp. rose $.04 or 2.2 percent, to $1.82.

MetLife rose $.23 or .7 percent, to $34.49.

XL Group PLC rose $.29 or 1.2 percent, to $24.84.
