NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were down at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. fell $.28 or .7 percent, to $41.62.

Gold Fields fell $.01 or .1 percent, to $12.88.

GoldCorp. fell $.58 or 1.3 percent, to $45.62.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $.03 or .1 percent, to $55.67.
