Johnson & Johnson rose $.35 or .5 percent, to $69.26.

Eli Lilly & Co. rose $.27 or .6 percent, to $47.68.

Merck rose $.32 or .7 percent, to $45.42.

Pfizer rose $.22 or .9 percent, to $25.07.
