Patterson rose $.07 or .2 percent, to $34.31.

PerkinElmer unchanged at $29.47.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. rose $.68 or 1.2 percent, to $59.51.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose $.41 or .7 percent, to $60.73.

Waters rose $1.10 or 1.3 percent, to $84.43.
