How the major US stock indexes fared on Friday
Major stock indexes slipped on Friday and ended the week with a loss.
Investors remain nervous about Spain, even though the results of stress-tests for the country's most troubled banks contained no surprises. A report in the U.S. showing that high gasoline prices were the only reason that consumer spending rose last month also weighed on market sentiment.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 48.84 points, or 0.4 percent, to 13,437.13.
The S&P 500 index fell 6.48, or 0.5 percent, to 1,440.67.
The Nasdaq composite index fell 20.37, or 0.7 percent, to 3,116.23.

The Dow is down 142.34, or 1 percent.
The S&P 500 is down 19.48, or 1.3 percent.
The Nasdaq is down 63.73, or 2 percent.
For the year:
The Dow is up 1,219.57, or 10 percent.
The S&P 500 is up 183.07, or 14.6 percent.
