NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were mixed at the close of trading:

General Electric Co. fell $.02 or .1 percent, to $22.71.

Snap-On rose $.65 or .9 percent, to $71.87.

Stanley Works rose $.20 or .3 percent, to $76.25.

Whirlpool Corp. fell $.57 or .7 percent, to $82.91.
