PerkinElmer fell $.08 or .3 percent, to $29.47.

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. fell $.61 or 1.0 percent, to $58.83.

Varian Medical Systems Inc. rose $.28 or .5 percent, to $60.32.

Waters fell $.79 or .9 percent, to $83.33.
