NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were up at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. rose $.91 or 2.2 percent, to $41.86.

Gold Fields rose $.18 or 1.4 percent, to $12.97.

GoldCorp. rose $1.39 or 3.1 percent, to $46.41.

Newmont Mining Corp. rose $1.28 or 2.3 percent, to $56.54.
