NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top tools and appliances companies were mixed at the close of trading:

General Electric Co. fell $.17 or .8 percent, to $22.36.

Snap-On fell $.47 or .7 percent, to $71.51.

Stanley Works fell $.51 or .7 percent, to $77.74.

Whirlpool Corp. rose $.46 or .5 percent, to $85.68.
