NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were down at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. fell $1.55 or 3.6 percent, to $41.31.

Gold Fields fell $.16 or 1.2 percent, to $13.09.

GoldCorp. fell $1.88 or 4.0 percent, to $45.05.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $1.05 or 1.9 percent, to $55.26.
