NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were mixed at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. rose $.40 or .9 percent, to $42.86.

Gold Fields fell $.06 or .5 percent, to $13.25.

GoldCorp. rose $.44 or .9 percent, to $46.93.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $.31 or .5 percent, to $56.31.
