W.Va. airport gets federal funds
BECKLEY, W.Va. (AP) — A $2.4 million federal grant will help expand the airfield at West Virginia's Raleigh County Memorial Airport.
U.S. Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin and Congressman Nick Rahall announced the Federal Aviation Administration funding Tuesday.
The funding will help the airport as the Beckley area prepares for an influx of visitors for the Boy Scouts of America's 2013 National Jamboree.
The 10-day summer event is expected to draw some 40,000 scouts and thousands of tourists to the Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in Fayette County.
