NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top silver companies were up at the close of trading:

Hecla Mining Co. rose $.02 or .3 percent, to $6.61.

Pan American Silver Corp. rose $.25 or 1.2 percent, to $21.74.

Silver Standard Resources Inc. rose $.19 or 1.2 percent, to $16.49.

Silver Wheaton rose $.30 or .8 percent, to $39.85.
