Gannett fell $.16 or .9 percent, to $17.42.

New York Times Co. fell $.14 or 1.4 percent, to $9.66.

News Corp. fell $.18 or .7 percent, to $24.73.

Time Warner Inc. fell $.14 or .3 percent, to $44.57.

Viacom Inc. fell $.51 or 1.0 percent, to $52.35.
