NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. fell $.89 or 2.3 percent, to $37.26.

Sprint Nextel rose $.06 or 1.2 percent, to $5.26.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell $1.05 or 2.3 percent, to $44.53.
