NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top gold companies were down at the close of trading:

Barrick Gold Corp. fell $.45 or 1.2 percent, to $37.08.

Gold Fields fell $.18 or 1.4 percent, to $12.42.

GoldCorp. fell $.20 or .5 percent, to $39.68.

Newmont Mining Corp. fell $.37 or .8 percent, to $48.47.
