NEW YORK (AP) — Shares of some top telecom companies were mixed at the close of trading:

AT&T Inc. fell $.23 or .6 percent, to $36.64.

Sprint Nextel rose $.03 or .6 percent, to $4.85.

Verizon Communications Inc. fell $.09 or .2 percent, to $42.67.
